Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to the FAQ section! Here you'll find answers to the most common questions about booking, equipment, music styles, and event setup.

1) Do you provide your own sound and lighting equipment? A: Absolutely! I bring all my own professional grade sound and lighting equipment. No need for you to source anything separately. I only use top of the line gear to guarantee crystal clear sound and a lighting setup that creates the perfect atmosphere. Ahead of your big day, we’ll chat about the kind of vibe you’re after whether that’s sleek and sophisticated or full on party mode. I’ll then tailor the setup to suit your venue and your style, ensuring everything looks and sounds spot on.

2) Is a deposit required to secure the date? A: Yes, a £50 deposit is required to secure your date. Until the deposit is received and your booking confirmation email is sent, your date is not guaranteed. The deposit is non-refundable and represents a small portion of the total agreed price. Please note, I can only hold a quote for 24 hours after it’s been sent. After that, availability cannot be guaranteed, so it's best to secure your booking as soon as possible.

3) Do you offer consultations before the event? A: Absolutely. I want your party to be unforgettable, and the best way to make that happen is by getting to know your musical tastes and vision for the night. You’re welcome to book a pre-event meeting with me at any time using this link: https://calendly.com/funkyt/pre-event-meeting. We’ll chat through your ideas, special requests, and any must-play (or must-avoid) songs to make sure everything is perfectly tailored to you.

4) Do you speak on the mic and make announcements? A: Yes, I am confident speaking on the microphone and will happily make any announcements you need during your event. I prefer to speak only when it is necessary, such as introducing the first dance or making important announcements. I am not a DJ who constantly talks over the music or introduces every track. The focus will always stay on the music and keeping your dance floor full.

5) What music genres do you play? A: I am an open-format DJ, which means I play all genres and all decades. The best parties are built on variety, not sticking to just one style of music. I love keeping the dance floor fresh by mixing across a wide range of sounds, reading the room, and making sure there is something for everyone to enjoy.

6) Do you have videos or reviews from past events? A: Absolutely! You can read plenty of positive reviews on my Facebook and Google pages by searching for DJ Funky T. For videos and highlights from past events, feel free to check out my Instagram at @dj.funky.t. You'll find lots of content that showcases the energy and vibe I bring to every event.

7) Can we request specific songs or a do-not-play list? A: Yes, absolutely! As part of the booking process, I’ll send you a questionnaire, which includes a question asking for the 5 tracks you really want to hear. Of course, you’re welcome to give me more than five songs if there are other favourites you’d like to include. If there are any songs you absolutely do not want to be played at your event, just let me know, and I’ll make sure to keep them off the playlist.

8) Do you take song requests from guests during the event? A: Yes, I do accept song requests from guests. However, my main goal is to keep the dance floor packed and the energy high, so sometimes requests may not fit the vibe of the party. As my client, if you request a song, it will definitely get played. When it comes to guest requests, I’ll always take your preferences into account because it’s your event. That said, I do appreciate being given creative freedom to say ‘no’ to requests if I feel they might clear the dance floor or disrupt the flow of the party.

9) Do you travel outside your local area? A: Yes, I take bookings from all across the UK and am also open to international bookings. No matter where your event is, I’m happy to bring the party to you!

10) What happens if you can’t make it due to an emergency? A: Once you’ve paid your deposit and received a booking confirmation email, your event date is fully secure with me. In all my years providing entertainment, I’ve never let a client down, nor have I ever had to cancel at the last minute. However, in the rare and unlikely event that I am extremely unwell, I will do everything in my power to ensure your event is covered by another equally professional and fully briefed DJ. I’ve built a strong network of local and national DJs that I can rely on in emergencies. We all support each other, and I have a WhatsApp group where DJs back each other up when needed. While I’ve never had to call in a cover DJ, I’ve personally stepped in to cover for other DJs before.

11) How much do you charge, and what does your pricing include? A: All of my pricing details are available on the website under the ‘Pricing’ tab. There, you’ll find a breakdown of what’s included in each package, ensuring full transparency so you can find the option that best suits your needs.

12) Can you accommodate outdoor or destination weddings? A: Yes, I can accommodate both outdoor and destination weddings. I have experience performing at all kinds of events, and I’ll work with you to ensure the sound and setup are perfect, no matter where your wedding is taking place.

13) What’s your cancellation and refund policy? A: Once you’ve booked, I will be holding your event date exclusively for you. As the potential loss of work due to a cancellation is significant, if you cancel within 7 days of the event, no refund will be issued. All cancellations must be made by email to bookings@funkyt.co.uk. Telephone or in-person cancellations cannot be accepted.

14) How do I book you for my event? A: To book me for your event, simply fill out a booking request on the website under the ‘Booking Request’ page. If I’m available, I’ll send you a written quote. If I’m not available, I’ll provide you with recommendations for other DJs you might like to consider. Once you’re happy with the quote, click ‘Accept Quote,’ and you’ll gain access to your client portal. You can then pay the £50 deposit (payment details will be on the invoice), and I’ll send you a booking confirmation. After that, we can start planning your perfect party!

15) What types of events do you DJ? A: I primarily DJ at weddings, but I also have experience performing at festivals, bars, and, in the past, clubs. No matter the type of event, I bring the same energy and dedication to making it a memorable experience for everyone!

16) How far in advance should I book? A: You can book as far in advance as you're comfortable with. The sooner you secure your date, the better, as my schedule tends to fill up quickly. That said, there’s never any pressure from me. I’m here to help whenever you're ready!

17) Do you have backup equipment in case something goes wrong? A: Yes, I always carry backup equipment. In the past, some DJs have been caught out when a piece of equipment fails, causing the party to stop. That won't happen with me!

18) What do you wear to events? A: My attire depends on the type of event. I always aim to dress appropriately to fit the occasion. However, if you have a specific preference or dress code in mind, just let me know, and I’ll be happy to accommodate!
